The great ocean road runs along the south western coast of Victoria all the way into Melbourne and is absolutely stunning. We stopped off at Port Fairy for...
They were pretty lush...
Beautiful little fishing towns are dotted all along the coastline but the big drawcard here as the rock formations off the coast caused by the errosion of the ocean waves over thousands of years. Loch Ard gorge is one of these. The water is a beautiful clear blue colour and the rocks a stunning yellow in contrast.
The twelve apostles are the next big ticket...although there isn't 12...there are actually 7 but apparently someone decided 12 packed more a punch and so it remained. There were 3 helicopters at the car park taking off every 5 minutes to fly happy snappy tourists out to get up close. There were an army, a literal army of people trudging down to have a look. We've spent 2 weeks driving around here and not seen hardly a tourist in sight most of the time...because they all seem to hang out here!!
It was all filmed at the Split Point Lighthouse at Aireys Inlet and we basically stumbled across it by accident. We got to touch it which was pretty cool and almost like a portal back to our childhoods.
Treated to a pretty amazing sunburst as we retuned to the car...
The place looks great i hope i will get to see it someday. As you know me and dad love nice beaches and would send all day on them simply lovely.
