Close(ish) Call!

Seems we missed being smacked bang in the middle of a volcano eruption by just 3 weeks. Not sure weather to be pleased or disappointed about that! Obviously I wouldn't be the first one signing up for a magma bath but to have been on the mountainside as it kicked off would have certainly been an experience to remember! 

The Tongariro crossing has only been open for about 6 weeks following an eruption a few months back. It's now been closed again by the authorities so pretty lucky that we got across it when we did. 
There was a school group up the range but everyone has been accounted for. Apparently there were reports of boulders 1 meter across being fired from the volcano!
