A few nights earlier we had met a Canadian couple that had “house swapped” their home with a Kiwi couple for a two-week holiday but were now touring the island in a camper.
Coincidently everywhere, and I mean everywhere we went they kept popping up!
Fresh and ready to walk we headed out
to Huka Falls a mighty part of the Waikato river. The water at this
particular part is squeezed into a gulley a quarter of the size of
the rest of the river and then blasted out over Huka falls.
The colour of the river was something
else, a colour that can only be described a spearmint and left me
longing for that lovely little mint with a hole in all the way home
(Polo)!
Acacia bay was another area on our list
of things to do, regarded in the guidebook as a particularly nice
area relax and even paddle around the lake.
In true Dean style the jetty was
spotted the clothes were off and out came the bomb! With the water
tried and tested (having watched “Piranha” a couple of nights
before) I thought I might have a go as well!
