Over here you get all the usual stuff on Tele although it does seem to be X-Factor...on repeat...all the time. What is a little different, and perhaps its just because we're not used to it, is that the adverts seem to be generally much more entertaining than back in the UK.
Our adverts are littered like an overflowing dustbin with celebs and jingles that are so familiar that they practically hold nursery rhyme status for kids. But here the messages seem stronger, more direct and a lot more funny in most cases - although they've some way to go to match up to the Peter Kay - John Smiths adverts...and there are a few too many where "Roger" your local carpet salesman is trying to provoke epileptic seizers by slamming "50% OFF" graphics right into your face accompanied by cringeworthy keyboard tunes. There's also currently one going round promoting a sale on "One Direction Bed Linen" for Xmas which makes me want to try and drown myself in my cup of tea.
Too be honest for a small country NZ punches above its weight for tele I think. Sure it borrows most of it from the US and the UK (thank the lord for Mr.Bean and Basil Fawlty) but its documentary, news and sports coverage is impressive.
Heres a few links to some of our favourite commercials we've found:
